If you have a sync account, try signing into the website (menu-planner.com, then click on Sign In at the top right of the screen) to see if the recipes there have categories assigned. If they do, you can try re-syncing your data from the website. To do that, tap the Disable Syncing button on the sync screen, then sign in again with your account. When prompted, make sure to select the option to use the data from the website. If you don't have a sync account setup - did you just recently switch over to the new version of Menu Planner? If so, you could try re-converting your data from the old version. If you go to the Setting screen, there's a button near the bottom that says "Re-convert old data". The only downside to doing that is you'll lose any changes you've made in Menu Planner since the update from the old version.
Have you tried the Forgot password link on the sign in page? The old version of Menu Planner didn't make you confirm the account password when setting it up, so there were a lot of typos that were never caught! If that's not working, send me an email (alan@Menu-planner.com) with the email address you used to create the account and I'll see what I can find out.
MIke, It's working on all of my test devices and is showing amounts. Can you post or email me your list so I can see what you're seeing? You're more than welcome to join the BETA testing program to help find issues before an update goes out. Just let me know and I'll get you an invite!
That's an interesting one - I haven't seen the converting/syncing issue! Have you tried resetting the sync account for both devices? If your iPad is the most up to date, I would use that as your sync data. So on both devices, disable syncing first. Then from the iPad, sign into your sync account and select the option to use the data on your device. That should sync everything to the server again. When it's completed, log into your sync account on the phone, but make sure to select the option to use the data from the website this time. That should skip the converting step and go right to syncing. Let me know if that doesn't help.
Did you check the cart from the store drop down list? I'm going to work on moving the cart list so it's easier to find, but if any of your items are still in the cart, they won't show up in the list to add to your shopping list. Let me know if that isn't helping.
Thanks for the feedback - the old website won't work with the new version of Menu Planner. A newer website is available, but for now it only allows entering recipe info. I'll be adding more soon. The new website can be found at http://menu-planner.com - then tap on the Sign In link at the top of the page.
I appreciate all feedback, and I agree it still needs work. I'll be completely honest and tell you the biggest issue is that it started off as a side project that got popular, but it doesn't make enough money to allow me to focus on it full time. And (since I'm being honest) it barely breaks even with the cost of running the website, this forum, and the sync servers. I would love to focus on it full time to help reach its potential, but I'm unfortunately stuck with the balancing act between this project and other work that pays the bills. I considered setting up a subscription for the sync service with the new version, but it's hard to justify it when competitors are doing that for free. And then there's the potential backlash from users who have had it for free over the past four or five years, which results in more negative reviews and leads to even lower sales numbers. It's a tough call. Regardless of all that, I can promise you that I haven't stopped working on it, and I don't plan to. Menu Planner is used very heavily in my household, so it's not going away! On a side note, there was an update released yesterday, so hopefully at least some of those issues you're running into are fixed.
